Gracie: Are you smart? … Like I am?
Mommy: Sure, how do you think you got smart? Where did you learn?
Gracie: Daddy!

Zoo Bread
No, I want the “zoo bread”!
Gehrig wanted zucchini bread, not white bread.
Pickle on the Cob
Gehrig’s Dictionary:
Pickle on the cob (also known as cucumber on the cob): (n) Eating a cucumber that has not been cut up.
Backing Up
You’ve all heard the horror stories. You go to boot up you computer, nothing happens… perhaps you hear a click… click… click…
This actually happened to me a couple years ago. Luckily my hard drive started working again just long enough for me to get a back-up before replacing it.
I recently heard of an acquaintance that had this happen to them. It reminded me of how vulnerable I am. I have no back-up plan!
I do however have a plan now. I’m signing up for mozy. Yeah, I’ve heard about about the great claims with Carbonite from all the radio shows (Rush, Dr. Laura, etc. etc.). We’ve even used Carbonite at work. I think its great, but when I did a search to see what other players are out there, I found mozy.
Why mozy?
I recognized their name. There are here it Utah. A couple years ago they sponsored a coding competition with a cash prize of $10,000. It was basically a recruiting effort to expose some of the best local talent.
But it is not just name recognition alone. I’ve done my homework and they are the real deal. Check out these videos:
So what are you waiting for? Get backing up! You’ll thank yourself someday. It’s only $4.95 for unlimited storage. If you can’t afford it, start with the free plan and back up your most important 2 GB (like your My Documents folder)
Mozy Online Backup. 2GB Free or $4.95/mo for Unlimited Backup. It’s simple, automatic and secure!
Oh, and one tip… If you are going to sign up for unlimited and decide to pay for a 1 year or 2 year plan, save 10% by entering “AUGUST” in the promo code (good until the end of August obviously!).
Our Back Yard
I found some old photos of our back yard and thought it would be fun to show off the changes we’ve made.
These photos were taken 11/16/2004 when we were looking at this house with our real estate agent:
The next photos were taken 04/19/2005 as we ventured out to do some work in the back yard for the first time.
Here are a couple photos take of our fence on 04/22/2006. I used the photos to post an ad on Craigslist. We had someone come tear down the fence and haul it off for free just so they could use the old wood.
Here is our back yard now, after putting in a new fence.

Gehrig Wrote His Name?
I don’t think I should read too much into this, but it was interesting and humorous nonetheless. Gehrig has been really into his magna-doodle and has learned to draw pictures that are more than just scribbles. Tonight we were watching a movie and he was writing on his magna-doodle and he said, “look, I wrote my name!” It wasn’t his name but it pretty clearly, and likely coincidentally spelled out “GOD.”
Why Do Kids Hate Naps?
Gehrig was so tired Sunday afternoon, but he didn’t want to go take a nap. I was getting a him a second pancake when I noticed the deer-in-the-headlights look. It cracked me up, so I grabbed my digital camera I had sitting nearby. This is priceless!
